Summer Flip Flop Wreath

flip_flop_wreath_8GREAT NEWS!!! It’s that time of the year when flip flops are on sale almost everywhere you shop!! With this in mind, we decided to show you how to turn those colorful flip flops into a cheerful wreath for your front door.

flip_flop_wreath_2WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • about six pairs of flip flops
  • a simple wreath for the base
  • silk daisies or other flower/embellishments of your choice
  • glue gun

flip_flop_wreath_4To begin making your wreath you will need to attach the first layer of flip flops to your base with a glue gun. We originally chose a styrofoam base, but we found that the glue wasn’t sticking to the styrofoam. We improvised and simply ended up cutting a cardboard ring. This worked great!

Before gluing, you will want to lay them down and decide what looks best. You will need about six flip flops, depending on how big you want your wreath to be. For this first layer, you will keep the heel side in. When you’re happy with your arrangement, go ahead and secure them with the glue gun.

flip_flop_wreath_3For your second layer, simply fill in the spaces between your first layer of flip flops……..toe side facing in this time. You might also find that by swapping a left one with a right one, or vice versa, they’ll fit better. Once again, when you’re happy with the look…..glue them down.

flip_flop_wreath_7It’s time to embellish! We finished our wreath off  by gluing some white daisies to each flip flop. Be creative and add whatever kind of flowers are your favorite! You might also decide to add other things. A cute wooden welcome sign placed in the center would be adorable, or even some colorful tulle around the sides or back. Make it your own!

Now it’s ready to hang and welcome your summer visitors!
